TheCompany

Yunex Traffic is a global leader in intelligent transportation systems, offering a broad end-to-end portfolio of solutions for adaptive traffic control andmanagement, highway and tunnel automation, and intelligent solutions for V2Xand tolling systems.

Founded andmatured under the competence umbrella of Siemens, equipped with market-leading expertise and many years of experience in infrastructure projects, Yunex Traffic is today an independent and agile mobility innovator within the Mundys Group.

YunexTraffic operates in 40 countries around the world with more than 3,000employees, and examples of its deployment of smart mobility solutions can befound in major cities such as Dubai, London, Berlin, Bogota and Miami, among others.

The challenge

In order to enable Yunex Traffic to grow further as an independently managed organizationunder the umbrella of the Mundys Group while sharpening its own strategic focus, Siemens announced a divestment of its subsidiary at the beginning of 2022.

In order to be able to remain and operate in compliance with data protection regulations even after being spun off from the Siemens Group, it was necessary to implement its own comprehensive data protection concept for the 26 globally distributed companies as quickly as possible.

Yunex attaches great importance to all issues relating to compliance and data protection, and demonstrates this as the world's only provider to meet all major regional transport technology standards in the EU, the UK, Asia and America.

"With SECJUR, we have found exactly what we were looking for in the area of data protection: a "data protection-as-a-service package" that is ideally suited to us and meets our requirements in every respect through the combination of a team of experts with the online platform Digital Compliance Office."

Global Compliance Officer EMEA / APAC, Yunex Traffic

The solution

To meet the acute time pressure and complexity of a globally distributed organization, not only expertise but above all a central platform solution was needed that enables global coordination and accelerates processes through automation.

SECJUR with its compliance automation platform - the Digital Compliance Office (DCO) - was the logical choice in the DACH region. After appointing SECJUR as external data protection officer, an ambitious roadmap was developed and implemented.

Through the Digital Compliance Office, Yunex Traffic conducted audits in all 26 companies to identify risks and potentials as well as synergies, also with a view to local data protection requirements.

This not only enabled efficient use of cross-border synergy effects, but also the implementation of a global data protection management system.

In particular, time-consuming tasks, such as creating the register of processing activities (RoPA) and reviewing the order processing agreements, were able to be completed.

The result

Only five months after the start of the cooperation with SECJUR, Yunex Traffic was positioned in terms of data protection law to operate in the market in a data protection-compliant manner without the structures of Siemens as the parent company.

Nina Miller, Global Compliance Officer EMEA / APAC at Yunex Traffic assesses the cooperation with SECJUR positively:

"With SECJUR, we have found exactly what we were looking for in the area of dataprotection: a "data protection-as-a-service package" that is ideally suited to us and meets our requirements in every respect through the combination of a team of experts with the online platform Digital Compliance Office."
